Today is National Rum Day! What a perfect excuse to enjoy some delicious rum cocktails. We recruited one of our loyal customers, Travis, a Rum enthusiast, to share some of his favorite rum cocktails:
1. Maine Island Rum Punch Winner of the inaugural Three of Strong Rum Punch contest, crafted by Travis!
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz Maine Blueberry Syrup
- 0.25 oz grenadine (1:1 pomegranate/sugar)
- 0.25 oz honey syrup (2:1 honey/water)
- 1 oz Three of Strong Stone Pier Rum
- 0.5 oz Three of Strong Nightwater Dark Rum
- 1.25 oz guava juice
- 0.75 oz Black Tea (Earl Grey)
- Two dashes “Vanilla Ango” (1:1 vanilla syrup/Angostura bitters)
Short shake in tin with ice cubes. Strain into glass over fresh ice. (If you are so inclined, float another half oz of Nightwater.) Dust with some grated nutmeg. Float Maine Blueberries.
2. New England Daiquiri
- 2 tsp Maine maple syrup
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- 2 oz Privateer Reserve rum
- One dash of Mexican Chocolate bitters
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled couple.
3. Lei Lani Volcano
- 0.25 oz simple syrup
- 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
- 1.5 oz pineapple juice
- 3 oz guava nectar
- 2.5 oz coconut rum
Shake in tin. Pour unstrained into glass. Garnish with orange slide and cherry.
4. Dark and Tropical Stormy
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz Falernum
- 1.5oz Gosling’s Black Seal Rum
- 3 oz Ginger Beer
Fill a highball glass with ice, add all ingredients. Garnish with cocktail umbrella.
